Advanced Dental Technology Albuquerque
Enhancing the Patient Experience
Too many people dread going to the dentist. That is why Dr. Monica Boehmer is always looking for ways to make people feel welcome in our Albuquerque dental office. The latest dental technology, along with patient comforts, lets us deliver precise, compassionate care and create a positive experience for every one of our patients. Read on to learn about some of the remarkable tools we use to accomplish this goal.
Intraoral Cameras
An intraoral camera is a small handheld device that lets our team get a clear picture of what is going on inside your mouth. The camera sends its images to a nearby computer screen so we can easily evaluate the state of your teeth and gums. The camera is also a valuable educational tool; when you’re able to get a detailed view of what is happening inside your mouth, you’ll gain a greater understanding of your oral health.
3D Cone Beam Scanner
Digital X-rays produce a two-dimensional image of your oral structures, which usually presents Dr. Boehmer with enough information to provide you with excellent care. Sometimes, however, she needs even more detailed images of a patient’s mouth. Our 3D Cone Beam Scanner quickly takes a series of images of a patient’s teeth and jawbone and assembles them into a three-dimensional representation of your mouth. We often use this scanner on patients who are preparing for oral surgery.
Digital Impression System
Cold dental putty was once the only way dentists could create a mold of a patient’s smile. However, times have changed, and Dr. Boehmer now uses the iTero digital impression system. Scanning your mouth using a handheld device, she can comfortably capture images of your teeth and gums that come together to form a three-dimensional model on a nearby screen. This is then sent to lab technicians for the creation of a custom restoration.
Laser Dentistry
Whether she is treating you for gum disease and targeting infected tissues, performing a cosmetic gum lift, or preparing your teeth as part of a treatment, Dr. Boehmer can use laser dentistry. Creating a more seamless and comfortable approach, the hard and soft tissue lasers used in-house allow for faster procedures, greater accuracy and precision, and reduced recovery times.
Cavity Detection System
Our DIAGNOdent cavity detection system is highly advanced and can detect the slightest hints of decay early on. Equipped with a specialized light, Dr. Boehmer can scan your smile to check for small cavities as well as darkened areas that have yet to form into dental caries. This device allows us to administer treatment much sooner, reducing the potential need for restorative care in the future.
T-Scan Novus
For patients experiencing discomfort and tension due to a misaligned bite, the T-Scan Novus gives us the ability to find exactly what is causing the problem. A patient simply bites down on a small mouthpiece, and this creates a reading that shows our team what order the teeth are touching, how hard they are touching, and more. This approach is much more accurate compared to the old ways, allowing us to deliver more comprehensive diagnoses that lead to personalized and precise treatments.
